Overview

We have an IMMEDIATE OPENINGS for a part-time LINE COOK. Seeking a team-player with a flexible work schedule (nights, weekends and holidays). Reliable transportation a must due to public transit may not be running for the late shift.

"Part-time" LINE COOK OVERVIEW ($16.00 per hour): Prepares, seasons and cooks meals, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food for consumption in an eating establishment.

Essential Functions

  • Liable for all stations on hot line

  • Responsible for the flow and quality of ala carte menu, party and buffet items

  • Accurately handle, control and disperse products

  • Daily scanning of food and kitchen supplies to ensure proper amounts were delivered

  • Keep kitchen floors, prep areas, storerooms and walk-ins clean, organized and sanitized

  • Prepare, label and properly store raw and cooked products

  • Follow opening and closing procedures as designated by Chef

Secondary Functions

  • Operating and maintaining all equipment / tools necessary for assigned tasks

  • Maintain all par levels as designated by the Chef

  • Report to the Supervisor any broken or non-working equipment

  • Running food / wash dishes

  • Perform all duties as assigned by Management

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Aptitude in actual culinary skills required

  • Knowledge of culinary terms and production techniques

  • Strong comprehension of food temperatures and composition of products

  • Specific knowledge of cooking techniques

  • Cutting experience working with various knives

  • Basic math skills required

Performance Standards

  • Meet all regulations pertaining to health, safety and personal hygiene in accordance with City, State, and Federal laws

  • Comply with Company / Department policies, including attendance, smoke breaks and cell phone usage

  • Must not present a direct threat to health, safety or the welfare of fellow employees or others

  • Treat all guests, vendors and employees with courtesy, respect, fairness and consistency

  • Professional in appearance, grooming and behavior

  • Ability to interpret and complete all communications received and submitted

  • Must respond in a timely manner to all employees and guests

  • Abide by portion control standards

  • May be required to be certified under food handlers program

Working Environment

  • Potential exposure to outdoor / indoor elements and air conditioning / heat

  • Walking, climbing, squatting, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching required

  • Occasional lifting (minimum of 25lbs.)

  • Exposure to different cleaning solutions and sanitizers.

  • Continuous motion without sitting for minimum of 2 hours.

  • Overtime work on an “as needed” basis

Dishwasher, food processor, steamers, ovens, microwave, knives, heat lamp, grill, broiler, meat slicer, mixers, steam table, fryolators, can opener, pots / pans, stoves, salamanders, buffalo chopper and other equipment
